When you are studying in Australia on a Student Visa (subclass 500), one of your visa requirements is to have OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover), which covers a wide range of healthcare services. Among the healthcare providers that international students can access, BUPA offers the Blua telehealth service, which allows for fast and convenient online consultations. Below, we explain how this service works.
What is Blua?
Blua is BUPA's telehealth service, which enables online consultations for:
– Common health issues: Get medical help for issues that may not require an in-person appointment, such as a cough, sore throat, headaches, or infections.
– Prescriptions and referrals: Request prescription renewals, referrals to another doctor, or blood and imaging tests (such as X-rays).
– Medical certificates: Request medical certificates if you are sick and need to take time off work or studies to recover.
How to book an online consultation with Blua?
To book an online consultation with Blua, you have two options: through the MyBupa app or via the BUPA website.
Through the MyBupa app: Download the MyBupa app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Log in using your OSHC insurance details.
Access the Blua option in the telehealth menu and choose the doctor and the most convenient time.
Through the BUPA website: Go to the BUPA website and log into your account.
After logging in, go to the healthcare services section and choose Blua to book your online consultation, just as you would through the app.
Fill in health information: Before confirming the appointment, you will need to describe your symptoms, which helps the doctor prepare for the consultation.
Conduct the online consultation: At the scheduled time, connect with the doctor via the link provided via video or phone, according to your preference.
